If you are looking to buy a new car in 2010 then you need to take out your pen and paper and jot down some notes here. As you can imagine with all of the bad press, Toyota has taken a real hit this year but they still have a few contenders. Are you ready?

Best overall: Lexus 460L Apparently Toyota’s problems have not impacted their flagship brand as this Lexus model scores a 99 on Consumer Reports 100-point scale.

Family Sedan: Nissan Altima

Small sedan: Hyundai Elantra SE

Sporty car: Volkswagen GTI  with its turbocharged 200-horsepower four-cylinder engine

Small SUV: Subaru Forester- This should have went to the Toyota Rav4 but Consumer held back until the recall issues are handled

Family SUV: Chevrolet Traverse – This should have went to the Toyota Highlander Consumer held back until the recall issues are handled

Green car: Toyota Prius for the 7th year in a row!

Sports sedan: Infiniti G37 for the 4th year in a row!

Family hauler: Mazda5 – Consumer Reports says, it has a “nimble feel and a comfortable ride.”

Pickup: Chevrolet Silverado

Douglasville’s Elana Meyers Win Olympic Bronze Metal For Womens Bobsled

Erin Pac and braker Elana Meyers and  take home the Olympic Bronze metal for the USA.

Just a few weeks ago Elana Meyers wasn’t even sure she was going to get picked for the 2010 Winter Olympics. And now she stands proud and tall with an Olympic bronze metal. But it almost didn’t happen. In fact, this is an amazing story of perseverance for all to read.

Apparently Erin Pac was having some hamstring issues during the third run which cost them some time. But Douglasvilles very own Elana Meyers said she was “just trying to stay calm and relaxed” during the whole thing.  They knew that the key to winning was their attitude. Notice what Elana had to say about this.

She went on to say , “We’ve been going at this to have fun this whole time, and that’s really what I was trying to do.  I had the hugest grin on my face going down because I knew we were about to do something special.”

So How does it feel to be an Olympic winner?

Pac went on to say, “I’m not really sure how I feel yet, I still feel the same.  It’s just going to be something hanging around my neck for the rest of my life.  It’s not going to change me or Elana.  We just feel a little bit happier.”

Kobalt Tools 500 In Atlanta

The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Kobalt Tools 500 in Atlanta will be held on Sunday March 7,2010 at 1:00 pm in Hampton GA at the Atlanta Motor Speedway.

The Kobalt Tool 500 is held every year at the Atlanta Motor Speedway, a 1.54 mile quad-oval track with 24 degrees of banking in the turns. As you can imagine with such high banking it is no wonder that the Atlanta Motor Speedway is one of the fastest tracks in the circuit. Some feel that it makes for a faster race than even at the super speedways found in Daytona and Talladega. These higher average speeds make for some really great NASCAR racing and exciting finishes.
