Leadership Gwinnett builds role models for tomorrow

What is Leadership Gwinnett?  Why is it so important to our community, state, and the region?

Since 1985, Leadership Gwinnett has set itself apart as one of the most respected leadership programs in the United States. In fact over the last 25 years, they have graduated over 750 leaders in Gwinnett County.  Many of these graduates go on to be elected officials at various levels of government.  While the remainder go on to be very informed citizens and quite active in their communities.  This program also allows you to see the many sides and varying viewpoints of several of our most challenging obstacles today.

Simply stated, the mission of Leadership Gwinnett has been described as “To educate, equip, and engage leaders to serve and strengthen Gwinnett County and the Region.”  That is to strengthen them as leaders by making them aware of some of our area’s most difficult problems and various ideas and ways to go about solving those problems.  Leadership Gwinnett touches on economics, education, the judicial system, infrastructure (what it takes to have roads, and other public facilities), Health and Human Services, Regional Issues and what it takes to have a world class community.

Selection is based on work experience, accomplishments, community involvement, education as well as other information found on their personal applications. Unfortunately, not every applicant is accepted. In fact… of the 500 nominations each year only 36 are actually admitted for this 9 month experience. These graduates have gone on to become the leaders, role models and decision makers we see in our communities today. In fact, many of them return to encourage and mentor new attendees.
