Atlanta Auto Insurance- Saving lives and keeping you safe!

May 28th, 2010 by Lloyd Pro Group

As drivers prepare to hit the Atlanta roads for the Memorial Day holiday travel period, Lloyd Pro Group, an Atlanta Insurance Agency, along with Nationwide Insurance and the Georgia Department of Public Safety is urging motorists to make their number one priority safety belt use while traveling.

Two national traffic safety campaigns began this week with their goal of saving lives and reducing serious injuries from motor vehicle crashes. Law enforcement across the country is making special efforts to encourage seat belt and child seat use during holiday travels.

Operation Click It or Ticket as well as All-American Buckle-Up Week are two of the main campaigns that began this week. Law Enforcement officers will be strictly enforcing Georgia’s seat belt law and also making sure children are properly restrained. Receiving a ticket for either of these will also strongly influence your Atlanta auto insurance rates.

The week leading up to Memorial Day is traditionally All-American Buckle-Up Week across the nation.  From May 24 through Memorial Day, civic and community groups join state law enforcement officers to educate the public on the importance of wearing seat belts at all times while traveling in motor vehicles.  Georgia State Troopers also remind adults who transport children to take the time to make sure children are properly restrained.

Concentrated efforts by law enforcement to support these safety programs are designed to educate the motoring public of the dangers they face each day on our nation’s highways. It’s easy to do- it seems like easy common sense: Obey the posted speed limit, don’t drive after consuming alcohol, and make sure everyone is properly restrained during every trip. Lloyd Pro Group, YOUR  Atlanta Insurance Agency, wants to ensure you all stay safe and happy this Memorial Day Weekend!

Rainy Day Driving Tips- Lloyd Pro Group Insurance

May 21st, 2010 by Lloyd Pro Group

As an Atlanta- based Insurance Agency, Lloyd Pro Group, representing Nationwide Insurance, deals with clients all day who don’t realize the dangers of driving in the rain and that their techniques should be drastically different than in dry times.

When the road is wet, the film of the water on the asphalt causes tires to lose traction. Less obvious is the fact that rain reduces driver perception — it’s harder to see through the rain — and also decreases visibility through its action on headlights, windshields, and the road itself. While most people know to slow down in the rain, there are definitely other tips that will help keep you, and those who share the road with you, from becoming a statistic:

- Allow for more travel time: People do drive slower (generally) but that doesn’t mean better. However, you pre-planned route may be flooded or heavy because of a crash. Don’t get stressed- make the time to take your time.

-Brake earlier and lighter: This decreases the stopping distance between you and the car in front and decreases the risk of hydroplaning.

- Turn ON your headlights: Even in a light misty rain, turning on your headlights not only increases your visibility but allows other drivers to see you better. Avoid using high beams, as this will reflect the light back to you off the raindrops, obscuring your view.

- If you do start to hydroplane, DO NOT turn the wheel or brake hard.   Your vehicle will be pulled into the hydroplane, causing you to lose control. You SHOULD release the gas pedal slowly and steer straight until you regain control.

- Avoid large puddles and running water if at all possible: they could be disguising a pothole or push your vehicle. Not only that, water could get into your engine and cause a lot of damage- the kind of damage that can make a rainy day a whole lot worse!

- Avoid unnecessary disturbances like talking on your cell phone or texting: We all know we aren’t supposed to make calls or text while driving anyway, but it is imperative to heed this warning on the dangerous, rainy days!

- Be courteous: I know a rainy day can make us all a little off- kilter, but we have to do our best to ensure that we all get where we set off to safely. Let’s work together! Drive a little more cautiously- sometimes we have to make up for other people’s lackings sometimes.. ;)

The Lloyd Pro Group loves our customers, and we love hearing from you. But it’s never good when it is in situations like a traffic crash or injuries. We provide the absolute best-for-you insurance for your car, health, anything you need! But auto insurance is the best when it’s not needed.

Storm / Hail Roof Damage: Atlanta Home Insurance

May 12th, 2010 by Lloyd Pro Group

Spring: the time when the weather in Atlanta is still undecided on what it’s in the mood for- Spring ahead to warm summer or lag behind with chilly nights and sitting by the fire pit. Rain or shine is really more like hot, cold, or stormy…

BUT the old adage, “April showers bring May flowers” is better known by Insurance agencies as Spring storms bring new roofs around Atlanta homes! Spring time, in reality, is a time to prepare your home to endure the storm to see the sun beyond the clouds.

Here in Atlanta and surrounding areas, storm and hail roof damage is the most common ailment of homes this time of year. This damage compromises the integrity of your roof- which means the safety of your home is at risk. Fortunately, hail and storm damage is covered by your Homeowner’s Insurance.  This type of claim does not affect your premium, as these weather realted losses are considered “Acts of God”.

Call Lloyd Pro Group Insurance, a Nationwide agency, if you feel that your roof, siding, or gutters may have suffered hail or storm damage. We will get an adjuster out right away to assess the damage and refer you to a REPUTABLE  home and roof repair company to give you free, honest consultations and unmatched workmanship on your home.

Not anymore! No more going to the post office to buy stamps that are forever increasing- penny by penny, in some cases nickel by nickel- or more! And guessing whether it will actually get there on time. Oh and then having to buy the envelopes. Ordering the checks and then figuring out where you put them because you never use them…finding a pen to write the check. Finding the stamps. Oh man, they went up a penny-again!. Where are those other 1 cent stamps now from last month? I know I put them somewhere safe.. Oh! I Know! They are with the checks.. Now, where did I put them again?
Happy Days are here! Check out www.nationwide.com and you can check your balance, pay your bill, and MANY more things with the click of a mouse, tap of a finger, whichever your technical pleasure. Knowing Child Carseat Safety and your Atlanta Auto Insurance

May 3rd, 2010 by Lloyd Pro Group

Whether you have a newborn baby (Congratulations!), a toddler, or big kid, this is information that you NEED to know. Lloyd Pro Group, YOUR Atlanta Insurance Agency, would like to help you understand the importance of child car seat use, as well as Child Safety laws that pertain to your family.

Specializing in YOUR Atlanta Auto Insurance and your car safety, we try to do what we can to prevent bad things from happening and be there for you if and when things do happen. Lloyd Pro Group wants to ensure you are covered every step of the way. Your children are the most precious thing in your life. You must treat them that way and understand that although you may be a great driver that obeys all the laws, there are other drivers that don’t. Sometimes things are unavoidable, and they ALWAYS happen in a split second. This is why you have to do everything you can to protect your family, as we do for you, as ours. Knowing the law is the first step.

Understanding the 4 basic categories of child safety seat usage is the key. And it is easy with these guidelines from NHTSA.

INFANTS/Rear Facing Seats: MUST BE Rear facing in the back seat. Center seat is the safest seat if possible. They must remain rear facing in the back seat up until they are at least 1 year of age AND 20 pounds. No exceptions!

TODDLERS/Forward facing seats: 1 year and 20 lbs to 4 years and 40 lbs. Forward-facing in the back seat. 5 point harnesses are by far the safest.

CHILDREN/Booster Seats: 4 years old AND 40 lbs to at least 8 years old. Children must stay in the back seat in a booster seat. Make sure to check seat manufacturer for weight and height restrictions. Many 5 point harness seats will go up to or even surpass 100 lbs.

TWEENS/Seat belts: children who are 8 years old (Usually 4’9”) may use the adult seat belt in the back seat. Make sure the lap belt fits properly across the upper thighs and shoulder belt fits comfortable across chest.

Not sure which car seat to use? Click here for car seat ratings and comparisons.

Also, remember don’t ever use a car seat that has been in any type of car crash previously. Don’t know for sure? Don’t use it. Is your car seat ready for a wash? Most covers are washable and even replaceable- but don’t ever wash the straps. It will compromise the integrity and safety of the straps.

Call one of our 4 Atlanta and area locations to find out where your nearest carseat checkpoint location will be. With locations in Atlanta/Marietta, Gwinnett/Duluth, DeKalb/ Decatur, and Douglasville, we have you covered! Also, look for checkpoints at LPG locations coming soon!
