If you like to use candles then you better be asking yourself, “Do I have home insurance?”
Why? Listen closely.
Its winter time now and cold nights make it conducive to use some candles for a relaxing romantic evening or to read the newspaper by. As relaxing as they may be, candles can be down right dangerous, as you will see in a moment. Candles can cause house fires.
This recent article points out this clearly in a dramatic way as it tells the story of two home owners that were hospitalized because of a fire that destroyed their home and all of its contents.
The culprit? The fire marshal believes it was a candle!
Now here is the frustrating part, notice what the fire marshal goes on to say:
“MacDonald said Riendeaus did not have affordable homeowners insurance.”
How sad for that family as they are faced with an overwhelming mountain of debt to secure a new home for themselves and pay for hospital bills.
Now notice what a few commenters said about this sad story:
Karen from Manchester writes:
“I feel awful that these people lost their home, but to think that they would put themselves at risk of losing EVERYTHING by not having home insurance is irresponsible. I guess the $300-400 per year for basic insurance seems like a small price to pay for your home and its’ contents, now, doesn’t it?!
How can anyone (especially in this economy) expect to find the money to help rebuild a home and replace all your stuff?
Meshu from Clairmont, NH went on to say:
“One of the biggest investments an average person will make in their lifetime. How can you Not Insure it . Totally baffles me.”
Our heart goes out to this family at this time. But it sertainly does make you think about your own family and home too, doesn’t it?
It makes you think do I have Ga home owners insurance or renters insurance? Is my policy up to date? Am really I covered for enough?
Why don’t you contact us for a complimentary insurance checkup? It doesn’t cost anything and it will answer all of your questions.
